Alaina Suddeth was born Rossville, Georgia, on 8 November 1994 to Kristy Suddeth, and J. J. Suddeth. Alaina started singing at just 3 years old. Her first performance before an audience was in a local children singing group. Her next public appearances were at an annual celebration that featured Karaoke. She performed anywhere within a 30 mile radius, which included churches, restaurants and family events. Alaina won in the Southern Stars Pageant talent contest when she was just 8 years old. Following that year, Alaina was asked to perform on the Riverbend Festival's Kids Talent Stage. She continued to perform there until she turned 12 old when she was awarded an event that allowed her to be a part on the main stage at the Riverbend festival. At the age of 10 she travelled from Florida across the state to Orlando in order to compete in The American Model and Talent Competition. She won the event, beating out 1,500 kids. Alaina sang in the Georgia Country Gospel Music Association's children's chorus. Alaina aged 12 made the first of her many trips to Nashville. She performed in Tootsie's Bar, which is a bar in the area situated on Broadway. Alaina won the title of the first winner of Lake Winnepesaukah's WinniSTAR Youth Talent Competition in the year 2009. She composed and performed various songs, such as Leaving the House, and set Me Free, as well. Alaina her cousin, Holly Witherow's who suffers from a tumorous brain tumor, encouraged her to start singing. Before Idol, Alaina worked at CiC's Pizza.
